My research question is "what can gene therapy do to advance cancer treatment?" Through my research, the most interesting thing I have found is that often, cancer results from a change in DNA, which changes the sequence of a protein, which changes its function and corrupts the cell, which leads to cancer. With our current cancer treatments, oncologists use radiation and chemotherapy to target the damaged cells and proteins making up the cancer tumor. This form of treatment had a lot of undesirable side effects, such as hair loss, anemia, fatigue, and many others.
