Hazel Lancaster has always hated support group. It's just a boring couple hours filled with cancer patients talking about their problems. Her mom makes her go though, since the cancer is making Hazel depressed.
One day, all of that hating changes. Hazel's glad to go to support group. She meets Augustus Waters, a metaphor-loving, cancer-free boy. They start hanging out and eventually, fall in love. Everything's going smoothly until Augustus finds out he has cancer again.
